As a Paralegal and future trainee Solicitor, I took a very significant pay cut (over £3 per hour) from my previous unskilled job in order to pursue my passion for criminal defence practice. I know earn much less, and work far harder than I ever did previously. I've come to see this as an integral part of modern practice, with clients getting needier and margins getting tighter. Is there really anything that can be done to combat stress amongst junior lawyers? Or is it just part and parcel of working in such a high-pressure and competitive professional environment?
