People are starting degrees this Autumn who will graduate in 2020 when the new rules come in. They have no idea yet whether their law degree will cover SQE part 1. 2020 is far too soon for such a big change. Many young people going to university this year plan their lives many years ahead. To spring this change on them with so little notice is very unfair.

The fact no one can tell them what the new system will be is doubly difficult. Eg will there be an equivalent of the GDL and LPC but covering parts 1 and 2 in the same year - so non law graduates have one year to fund if a law firm does not sponsor them on it? Or will law firms recruit non law graduated immediately after graduation and sponsor them on a one day a week day release for a year doing part 1s and then part 2s?
