So the central plank of the SRA's argument for the proposed changes, i.e. the cost of the LPC, is shown to be bogus as there will still be an expensive training course. The only difference is that it will be limited to those who are wealthy enough or sponsored by their future employer, thus a two-tier system as predicted.

Taken together with the fact that that the new system will put law and non-law graduates on an equal footing in terms of their access to the profession, it's a real kick in the teeth for law students wishing to become solicitors.
