As with all criticisms of the supposed lack of parliamentary accountability involved in the intricate process of leaving the EU, I find the concerned tone of above article difficult to reconcile with the complaisance of the British establishment for over 40 years when confronted with the total powerlessness of Parliament to reject, oppose or alter in any way the flood of legislation emanating from Brussels. Surely "accountability" cuts both ways, and without the power to reject proposed legislation the power to "scrutinize" it is nothing but a sham? Mr Rozenberg is such a fair-minded and (genuinely) liberal commentator that it's difficult to understand his lending his authority to this kind of special pleading.
