Although agreeing with John Hall and anonymous 16:05 we've got rather off the point. I am very nervous about the proposed changes and what this means in the medium to long term for real justice and access to it by those without means. At what point do we decide that claims are "vexatious"? Although I do thoroughly despise professional colleagues who assist knowingly those who make false or exaggerated claims to line their own pockets (and who are breaching their duty as officers of the Supreme Court not to mislead the court!!!), we must not go down the road of just assuming that anyone who makes a claim is exaggerating etc. unless they are carrying their head under their arm. I am not a PI practitioner, but would like to think that if I suffered a life-changing injury as a result of someone's negligence that I could find a good quality lawyer to act for me without having to risk losing everything I may own into the bargain.
