So, if a witness does not want to be cross-examined, because he or she is a liar and fears that this will stick out like a sore thumb, all he or she needs to do, is to make an allegation of "abuse" (whatever that means) and his or evidence will not be challenged. What a twit his lordship is. I am surprised he passed law school.

If the cross-examination went badly, it is the judge's fault for allowing this, not the party's fault for presenting his best case, as ferociously as the judge allowed him to.
