This election result is potentially only less disastrous for Britain than an outright Labour victory would have been. We must however be thankful that, of all possible coalition partners for either major party, the Ulster Unionists are probably the most sane. There is also a bright spot in the humiliation of the Scottish Nationalists.

Otherwise, a bad night for us all.
