Considering the case cited below I've always found the obsession judges have with refusing to adjourn cases due to the default of the parties a touch bizarre. It is virtually guaranteed that your case will be adjourned at the first hearing (particularly in London) as it is likely to be block listed, then you're lucky to get a new date in 6 months.

In the case below part of me wonders if Armstrongs were better off hoping the case would be adjourned by the court the day before, then making their application after the adjournment!
