Yes to complete separation of the function of training and examination. One of the reasons for the current mediocrity of the LPC is the fact the course provider marks their own homework hence very few students fail.

Having taught on the LPC and seen lecturers teach the exam rather than law and procedure- giving model questions and answers which can be copied into the exam paper- my view is that centralised assessment of the exam ,by examiners unconnected to training organisations is a must. as is the need for an obligation on those teaching to continue to practice in the profession.
