There will be no £35 saving for motorists. These proposals are a smoke screen to protect the insurance industry from the increased value of the claims that the discount rate changes has triggered. It will simply serve to protect the insurance industry's profits and when the premiums don't fall they will blame the lawyers for inflating the damages claims of the sick and helpless. We have already heard tripe from one insurer a few months ago who said when challenged that there are all sorts of reasons why insurance premiums don't go down. And a final thought - even if premiums are reduced, they can always be put again next year - but the changes in the law if effected will take a generation to put right.
