Shame on you 11.05 and 11.49. Your comments are naïve and complacent. It is precisely because of the moral standing we have in the world that the PM and her Government need to set an example. Any erosion of basic human rights is to be resisted and condemned. Mechanisms already exist to allow Governments to protect the state and its citizens, but not at a cost of any government deciding to select the bits of Human Rights it likes and discarding the bits it does not like on the pretext of political expediency. That way spells ruin. The accusation that we are throwing unnecessary mud ignores the fact that it was the PM's comments that generated that repost. She would not have made those remarks if she felt that they would not have found favour with elements within her own Government.
