I totally disagree with your comments. I am a defendant lawyer but I am concerned about the erosion of just and equitable ways of damages being assessed. Or making the handling of personal injury claims so unprofitable that no firms can afford to stay in the market. This is not in the best interest of laymen if they have to represent themselves against a large insurer or other organisation that is familiar with the process.

Solicitors should not be forced to cut corners when dealing with matters for their clients, regardless of the type of claim or who the client is.

Put yourself in their shoes. Say garages no longer repair cars because it is unprofitable and your engine blows up. You have to change the engine yourself based upon what ever you can find on the internet that is often very confusing, contradictory and unclear. What chance do you have.
