Partners/owners of more profitable firms are likely to be paying very considerable sums in tax already, and where the service is to UK residents, raising significant sums in VAT. Effectively the proposal is for double taxation to backfill the Government's refusal to fund legal aid properly.

The proposal also overlooks that many firms act for free or for reduced fees. They don't make a big splash about it as otherwise they'd have a queue out the door.

And, no taxation without representation...

It's politically toxic, many would not agree with their money being used to fund certain types of advice.

It's a 'no' from me.
