Judging by the number of calls that I receive each week, despite being registered with the Telephone Preference Service, I find it hard to believe any companies give two hoots about the current rules against these particular practices.

The amount of money they can bring in by doing this is astounding, and the risk of a slap on the wrist is worth it for them. The ICO do a tremendous job investigating but recover minimal amounts from issued fines because the companies simply cease trading.

Ban cold calling, ban the sale of personal data to cold-calling companies, shut them down if they continue to flout the law, stop the directors setting up again in a different guise.
