And whilst I'm on a roll; Anon @ 15:39 please don't believe everything you read in the press; especially not the Guardian!!

What do you take 'whiplash scandal' to mean? Where is your evidence (or indeed the Guardian's evidence) that there is whiplash problem in this country.

Current independent evidence suggests that there are fewer claims for soft tissue neck injuries in this country than many others in Europe.

As for CMCs encouraging Fraud; I'm not sure I agree, but I am sympathetic of the fact that the problem is misunderstood.

CMCs do not go out and actively encourage people to lie; rather, people who intend to lie are able to get their spurious claim past a CMC and the lawyers who utilise them as they are....less inclined to be picky (understandable if your business model is based on paying a fortune for CMC cases - you need volume).

There is also a place in the world for something like a CMC; as many people, even in this digital age, are unsure who to turn for when they need help and are intimidated by turning up at the door of a solicitor.
