I realise that we are supposed to regard everything that the SRA does as outrageous and unreasonable but £20k for a two day contested hearing is in no way out of line for a normal civil litigation matter. I don't know any reason why a two day disciplinary hearing should be cheaper than a county court trial of similar length.

While I understand Anon 11:50's comment that a strike off would have been justified, an indefinite suspension also seems within the realm of reasonable penalties. Seems like a case of the system working properly for a reasonable cost and delivering a not inappropriate outcome to me.
