About ten years ago a fraudster set up a fake branch office using my firms name and got it put on the then equivalent of find a solicitor. It took me about 3 or 4 requests before the Law Society deleted the fake entry and only then after I threatened it with action. It struck me then that surely it would not need much effort for the LS to contract the true head office to check a branch was real. Even the Post office check with the real addressEE at their known address before accepting a redirection request. How hard is it for the LS to do some basic checks instead of using a get out clause
