I think Jonathon only states half of the story. A barrister/solicitor's first duty is to the court not his client. If the court truly exists to promote truth and justice that would be a good thing because barristers and solicitors would report law breakers. But the first priority of the courts, which are corporate entities, is to make profits for those serving the company. The lawyers protecting client's illegal activities using the privilege argument are making serious money, and in effect living off immoral earnings. The bottom line is that tinkering with a system that itself is corrupt is just hissing in the wind. The common law has answers to all our problems, but it is ignored by the administrative courts because the common law is free to all. Sorry you lawyers but your livelihood would disappear if the common law was allowed to be used. So in truth you are part of the corrupt system. Why would you swear that your first duty is to the court? Your first duty should be to honesty, integrity, and to the common law.
