Many years ago, as I was starting my career and he was coming towards the end of his, I had the great pleasure of working with a solicitor who, if I recall correctly, did his articles either in the late 1950s or early 1960s. I don't recall the name of the firm in which he qualified, but I do recall him telling me that in the late 19th century, it was frequently instructed by Charles Dickens. I was told that the board room was lined with framed letters from the great man, each setting out his complaints about would-be adversaries, in language of unparalleled profanity.
