The amount of paper wasted in litigation is stupendous. In any average court bundle there are countless documents repeatedly exhibited and annexed every time a reference is made to them. And where the document has its own exhibits and annexes some solicitors will throw theses in too countless times.

In today's electronic age, would it not be simpler for parties to file all documents electronically with a general rule that a document once filed may only be referred to in future documents and not produced again?

And how about a rule that all court bundles must be printed double sided which would halve the amount of paper in a single stroke?
