As a disabled, comprehensive educated, former working class solicitor in private practice for many years, , I thought that I must tick some of the diversity boxes for Recorder. I applied and went through the most badly organised selection procedure I have ever encountered. Somehow I got to the end and was rejected because I was too old. (Aged 66). Two points. Why didn't they say that at the beginning and given the level of sheer incompetence, I am secretly rather glad I didn't get selected. Couldn't organise a p...up in a brewery (as us working class kids used to say!)
