Mr Morrison

you are in part correct, but with fixed costs that is how the work has to be done for firms to stay in business. Nobody who can charge say £150 per hour will bother with £500 for a road accident that requires more than a couple of hours work. The work is done by non-qualified staff for this reason.

Sausage machine procedures are here to stay and in many cases they actually work very well especially with the advent of case management systems.

But here's the rub. The court is busier than ever before but it is under funded and under staffed. You might have the best court clerks in the world but if they are snowed under they will not do things right.

My solution - if the claim form gives a preferred court, issue centrally then despatch half of the claims to the local court. Not the court local to the solicitor but to the claimant. Get the local court staff to do stuff and spread the load.
