Anon at 10.10. I can't see how competition on hourly rates will work with PI firms. A Grade A solicitor is going to be allowed to charge more working in central London than somewhere out in the sticks - which includes me. Claimants don't go to solicitors on the basis of hourly rates but instead on the basis of reputation and expertise - more often than not irrespective of what they will suffer by way of deduction from their damages caused by the success fee. I have not had one client in the past 4.5 years tell me that they want a different cheaper solicitor! SRA is talking BS here - again.
