'As part of its consultation on looking to the future, the SRA also wants to lift the rule preventing a solicitor running a firm unless they have been entitled to practise for at least three years'

Is it not likely that the market will fill the lacuna of regulating the profession that the SRA seems to want to create? Assuming that it is not proposing to relieve these 'unrestricted' practices of the need to carry PI insurance, how many insurers are going to be willing to write cover for a solicitor who establishes such a practice immediately upon qualification? And if any insurer is willing to write such cover, is it not likely to quote premiums that are effectively out of reach for such people? But I doubt that the SRA would be able to think this broadly when it's engaged on yet another of its 'blue sky' flights of fancy.
