I think a number of you are missing the point. The Solicitors Regulation Authority is a Board of The Law Society but it regulates and enforces regulation completely independently of the Law Society. The Law Society remains the approved regulator. If TLS does not like what the SRA is doing, then stop them. All of the other professions have retained in-house their regulator and yet we seem to be the only ones that are subjected to the whims of the Frankenstein's monster that the Law Society created. Maybe it's time to consider abolition of the SRA and let the legal complaints service, the legal ombudsman and possibly the ICAEW deal with errant solicitors.
