Comment

There is too much campaigning by lawyers who overreach themselves these days. The law is no substitute for the democratic process, particularly in a matter as fundamental as this. To argue that the courts must act if Parliament declines to do so displays the arrogant assumption that action is universally accepted to be needed. Whether that is so is for politicians who are answerable to the public, not judges who are not.
