I have been a litigator for more than 30 years. I think I have a very thick skin. I have recently had cause to complain to the JCO about a London circuit judge who was in my opinion rude, sarcastic, racist to my opponent and then to crown it all stomped off saying that he would prepare the order when he listed the matter for a three-day trial regrettably he didn't bother to tell the listing office so we all ticked up mob handed for a three-day trial to find there was no trial. Cost the court service. I recently had cause to complain about a Deputy District Judge who at best was grandstanding on the telephone for the benefit of a litigant in person in front of him. In both cases the complaints were not accepted. My client's view is what is the point of complaining they are a law unto themselves. My view at this point in my career is I frankly don't care, what can we do to me? I respect the office, the occupant of the office should also have respect for the office and behave accordingly. If they don't like the job, go back to private practice or perhaps they are in the job because they can't cut it in private practice.
