An interesting discussion, on the whole.
I have to say that in almost 30 years as a litigator and advocate, I have found rudeness from the Bench to be very much the exception, rather than the rule. Of course we can most of us trip out our favourite ‘rude judge’ anecdotes but again, in general, it seems to me that judges’ treatment of legal reps and other court users has actually improved over time.
I must however take issue with Anon at 15:38. Whilst it is certainly the case that the judiciary remains unrepresentative, to assert that it is also still “full of white public school men” is, I’m afraid, an abiding misconception.
