The family court is just as bad. Only a couple of weeks ago I was on a case where both counsel were acting under the direct access scheme without which the court would have been dealing with litigants in person on both sides. Instead of common courtesy, we were both shouted at for personal idiosyncrasies which in any other workplace would have amounted to bullying and been met with disciplinary action. The next week I had a judge attempting to bully me into getting my client to agree to something at 4.15 in the afternoon - I refused and received a judicial telling off. What is wrong with our judges? They are making our job much more difficult and undermining us in front of our clients - to what purpose???
