'Compulsory attendance at mediation is already in place for family and employment disputes ...'

This isn't my understanding as a family mediator. The fact that attendance is voluntary is one of the core principles of family mediation. Confusion often arises around this as attendance at a pre-mediation meeting (Mediation Assessment and Information Meeting (MIAM)) is compulsory - except for in a few limited situations - before you can apply to the court for an order in disputes involving children or matrimonial finances. However, mediation itself is voluntary.

It would be great if this important distinction could be borne in mind in future reporting please.
