Before I retired from practice I had been the complaints handler for my firm for several years. Most clients who complain of delay and lack of communication when the matter is still ongoing really want the job finishing. They complain out of frustration. If you can get the fee earner to get the job moving and finished quickly, the client will be grateful to you for getting it sorted and the complaint will probably disappear.
