We might have hoped the Law Society would stand up for solicitors and avoiding fraud. A properly drawn Will is one of the most important documents those of any substance (which includes nearly all home owners) will make and there should be no doubt as to its terms and no ambiguity as to which is the latest Will. Allowing any old document, in any old form, to act as a Will risks fraudulent claims and untold trouble. Whilst some solicitors will benefit from the resulting litigation the damage done, and the family bitterness created, will be far worse.
