R Ritchie. Only in government? Unless you consider hiding the truth not to be untruth, the fight to prevent the disclosure of bribery and corruption allegations in the SFO/ENRC case recorded elsewhere in this edition surely puts 'professional privilege' in that category. A way out of the 'dilemma', if the profession sees it as that, would be for the Court to order the documents to be delivered to it, then sealed until a verdict was given. The Court could then have the documents examined to see if they contained reasonable evidence of criminality beyond that exonerated in the judgement, and decide whether to deliver them to the SFO.
