EU regulations do not make substantive law for purely domestic UK family law. They govern only the international reciprocal recognition and enforcement procedures between EU member states. The UK government must do the best it can to negotiate post-Brexit commercial "deals" over such matters as trade and immigration. But there must be a red-line insistence on retaining reciprocity for family law. Otherwise British families, especially British children, are likely to suffer.
