I am always amazed at the level of costs awarded against the respondent in disciplinary cases. I feel that the 'prosecution' has almost carte blanche to run up costs, and that there is little prospect of the respondent ever being able to pay such awards. The costs order will instead be a millstone around his neck for the rest of his life. It all looks like kicking a man when he is down.
