I'm am not 14:38 but I must agree that they are right.

In my own firm we have trainee solicitors and paralegals. The trainees are trained with a view to qualification and practising as a solicitor, whilst paralegals do not have the same levels of training or time investment from the firm. After two years their individual ability to be an NQ solicitor is certainly not equal.

The reason it is difficult to get a training contract is because there is not enough qualified jobs for the graduates coming through, these reforms do nothing to change this and just change the goal posts.
