The difference is Ian, in one case you've paid for a service which inherently has an aspect of 'time is of the essence' to the contract and the other is an unforeseen event: further in the former the rules are also intended to make it economically painful to cancel / delay flights so that carriers take more steps to prevent this.

Of course the 'all minor injury claims are bent' lobby are talking drivel but to compare the two types of claim is mistaken.

PS I can't see the picture of Toby, is he still sporting the luxuriant facial hair . . . I think we should be told.
