This is mainly nonsense as different solicitors present their charges in a different way. For instance a client gave me a copy of a quote he had received via a chain agent he was buying through. The headline fee quoted was slightly half than the actual fee when you added together the extras! I saw the agency agreement (same agency but different selling client) and circa half the legal fee was going to the panel management company meaning the client and related parties in the transaction would be left dealing with some conveyancing factory. This is the real issue. Whilst I am sure it complied with what it needed to would in reality be confusing to the client who would ultimately be the one who would lose out.

As others have said few other industries publish their prices.

A reputable law firm clearly sets out the basis of their pricing. We do not need some so called consumer champion trying to create a role for themselves that serves no real need.
