3)We shouldn't help the opponent.

This is of course correct. We have to do the best by our clients, and we also have to assist the court. But the court system is adversarial, so assisting the court is unlikely to involve assisting the opponent.

But surely the "end game" is either a trial or a settlement? And surely the best way to get to the trial or settlement is that all parties have complied with obligations to serve their statements of case, disclosure their documents, and serve their witness evidence?

Who on earth would devise a system that rewards a party for obstructing their opponent from reaching what is supposedly the desired outcome?

It's a shame really because these attitudes of the profession is music to the ears of those who wish to regulate us to death, Legal Ombudsman us into the ground, and Online Court us out of existence.
