Addendum to my previous post.
When in practice where service was as a matter of policy (we checked emails ONLY after sharpening a the senior partners quill pens) not accepted by email and stated on the headed paper my view was no judge would find against an LiP but would against a represented client. That in fact I found to be the case unless the court felt the LiP was sufficiently "sophisticated" to understand the rules.
Personal, if you advertise or otherwise utilise an address (email or otherwise) then it should be good for service. Up to you to check the mail!
