When the DCLG's call for evidence was first announced in the Gazette on 23rd October 2017, I made the following observations -

"The government asks in this consultation,
'What would the impact be of banning referral fees?'

This issue has split the conveyancing profession for many years. It is time to let the government know what we think, whichever side of the debate we are on. "

The window for responding to the DCLG closed yesterday.

The Conveyancing Association have unsurprisingly defended referral fees in their response to the government consultation.

That makes me wonder whether the contrary view was put to the DLCG by those members of the conveyancing profession who oppose referral fees.
