I have been on the receiving end of this company. They look to firms to reimburse success fees and ATE Premiums. It is a pretty clever ploy. You issue a Part 8 cl;aim for a solicitor own client assessment of your bill claiming the success fee and ATE premium was too high. they have had some success in Sheffield CC. The problem for firms defending the claims is cost. If more than 20% is knocked off the bill you are paying the assessment costs on an indemnity basis. This is correct even if the bill is minuscule (as it was in my case). The hourly rates claimed are heavy too - principally because the ex client only has 28 days to seek an assessment and therefore there is a degree of urgency and specialism involved. I have in place tactics to prevent challenges going forward. If anyone wants to know then post a comment and I will let you know what we do.
