'Transparency' is a word that is much in vogue these days, and indeed features in the headline of this article.

Equally important, I believe, is the rather old-fashioned concept of individual accountability.

If, in a worst-case scenario, the person who has just been released by the PB were to commit further crimes of a similar nature, should not the individual members of the PB who voted in favour of his release be held accountable for their decisions?
