We appear to be a profession of slave labour and our appatent ‘union ’ the law society does nothing to protect us/ useless and pointless- this is wrong on every level. Our profession is treated badly because our apparent ‘union’ does nothing to portray us in a good light - even down to getting paid a decent wage. A am regularly accosted in my local pub for the hours I work - I have noticed so much how other professional people - most recently my GP and acupuncturist’s response when they asked what I worked as- and I responded - was ‘oh noooo’ - is this what we are? Is this the reaction of others when we tell them what we do?’ Oh nooooo - how awful’The whole professional world thinks we have the worst job on earth - that it is ruthless nasty and discriminatory- and we don’t even get paid for the long hours we work anymore- I advised my son against entering the profession and thank goodness - now he has a full happy and lucrative life and most lawyer parents I know have done the same - president of the law Society - are you reading this ? You will be left with the monkeys! As folk of good intellect will abandon ship for better professions.
