I'm afraid I don't have much sympathy with those who complain - and yes we do pay all Trainees more than the minimum level incidentally. When I receive grumbles over pay from Trainees, I usually remind them, having made a point of telling them during interview, that I actually had to pay a premium for my Articles, and didn't actually earn anything at all until my third year.

I also suggest they look at the success rates of those completing the BPTC course in obtaining pupilage, and realise how fortunate they are. It's a tough world of supply and demand and while the LPC might be the key to the door, it guarantees nothing.

Probably time I retired !
