I think most people would rather not be injured. There is nothing objectionable in providing a lump sum payment for PSLA and represents the settled law of this jurisdiction and others (for example other common law jurisdictions including the US). The political interference in this area relates to the relationship between the Conservative Party and the insurance industry, and not the public interest.

In terms of fraud, the extent of insurance fraud is now discredited. Consequently, the Government and insurance industry are now attacking what they refer to as ‘trivial claims’ instead. In any event, fraud should be tackled on a case-by-case basis.
