No, they sell data to anyone willing to buy with a legitimate purpose. It's mostly data derived from the public domain (electoral roll, CCJ's, insolvencies, IVA's) embellished with details of financial footprints.

Unfortunately, we now live in an age where "Big Data" knows more about you than you do!

Anon 16:08, you can be forgiven for missing the omission of s29 and s35 from GDPR, as the 99 Article Document is something of a "drone strike". Art.10 deals with data concerning reference to criminality, which is derogated to National Parliaments to implement at a national level. It is incorporated into the current Data Protection Bill.
