This thread is now, or so it seems to me, to have headed well away from the specific events at the "presidents' club" dinner. Since that is the case I am now myself in something of a quandary.
I am (or possibly was) planning to go to a football match tomorrow where I will be stuck with the, relatively modest number of, away fans, (correctly, it will be where I belong.)
I can anticipate that some of them will have had too much to drink and that some (not necessarily the same individuals) might well act in an unacceptable fashion.
Do I
1. need to clear this with ethics before I head off or
2. pack in watching football
3. Report myself to the SRA to get myself investigated on the basis that not only am I attending tomorrow but I have also been to similar events in the past?
4. Just go and behave myself

Secondly whilst I have never been to an International Rugby Union game I have had the good fortune of having been offered a ticket to the England V Wales game on Feb. 10th.

I have no prior personal experience of such events but hearsay evidence leads me to believe that alcohol might well be consumed in significant quantities (by others obviously) and that this in turn may lead to boorish behaviour. Have I made a terrible mistake in accepting the offer of said ticket?

I can see that all male meetings and events could well mark attendees as being subject to criticism of one form or another but I seriously doubt whether it would of itself automatically result in an investigation by a professional regulator. In some ways that is a pity as I'd just love to see a full blown investigation into the Freemasons.
I wonder how many lawyers would be lost to the profession if membership of that particular all male group led to being struck off.
