I disagree with your comment "that most coroners are able to manage this balancing exercise without significantly affecting other families".

I have recently had experience of the system affecting other families. My partner's uncle recently passed away and his funeral is taking place 6-7 weeks after his death, he was Christian. Now if he was Muslim or Jewish his body would have been released for burial a lot earlier. This queue jumping is impacting on families. Why should my partner's family wait so long to have the funeral? Why should Jewish of Muslim deceased/families get preferential treatment and be able to have the funeral a lot earlier than anyone else.

My partner's family would prefer to be able to have the funeral and say goodbye but cannot. Yet if he was Muslim or Jewish they get preferential treatment and can close the sad chapter in the book and move on.

There is absolutely no reason why her family should be forced to way 6-7 weeks if Muslim and Jewish families are having bodies released for burial within a few days or even a week.

Treat everyone equal regardless of religion is always being banded about so why should it not apply to the deceased?
