I've said for a long time that 113 Chancery Lane will soon be a Premier Inn.

Who will want to pay to be a member of a club that will not let you sit in the reading room because almost every afternoon there is another diversity event or conference? Also, they are no longer serving what I thought was the best coffee and toasties in London.

The only thing they can therefore offer is the library as I cannot see that they do anything else for us, other than try to sell us membership of their accreditation schemes. I wonder what the value of those accreditations will be following separation from the regulator, eg. CQS to mortgage lenders!

Barristers pay their PC fee to the BSB and then pay an extra £100 or so to join the Bar Council if they want to, so why not us?
